In order to maintain a consistently high standard for all our translations, we follow a strict quality assurance process. This includes

  • the native speaker principle: all of our translators translate exclusively into their native language
  • the target country principle: our translators live in the country of the target language and are intimately familiar with the local culture
  • the peer review principle: all translations are reviewed by a second translator before being delivered to the customer
  • subject matter expertise: our translators are also experts in their areas of specialisation
  • cooperation: we work closely with our customers to make sure we meet their needs and requirements in every way

We consider quality assurance a key component of our work and have certified our processes to the international quality standards ISO 17100:2015.

ISO 17100:2015 is an international quality management standard. It sets out requirements for a quality management system that uses a process-oriented approach and places a high emphasis on customer satisfaction. Regular checks ensure that these requirements are met. Thus, an ISO 17100:2015 certification forms the basis for the continuous improvement of a company’s quality management system.

ISO 17100:2015 is a quality standard developed specifically for the translation industry. It not only covers the translation process but also all related aspects, such as a language service provider’s personnel and technical resources, quality control systems, project management system and contractual frameworks.

 A typical process in accordance with ISO 17100:2015 is structured as follows:

  1. Analysis and order placement: establishing the parameters of the project (target audience, preferred file format, deadlines, etc.); text analysis; review of data and source documents
  2. Planning: determining which software to use (e.g. CAT tools), scheduling and assigning team members (project managers, translators, proofreaders, editors, etc.)
  3. Preparation: researching the topic and relevant glossaries; integration of customer-specific glossaries and terminology databases; setup of memory databases
  4. Translation process: translation by one or more translators; use of CAT tools and terminology databases to guarantee consistency
  5. Proofreading and editing: review of language, style and content by an independent proofreader with subject matter expertise; focus on correct terminology, consistency and text flow
  6. Review and QA: last review of translation and layout/DTP; final check and quality conformance test
  7. Delivery and feedback: the translation is delivered for review to the client, who can contact the project manager for additional assistance; customer feedback is recorded for evaluating customer satisfaction, followed by internal quality assessments of the translator, editor and project manager
